“Estiuet” is the word in catalan for “short summer”, it is used when there are unusual warm temperatures for a given date in winter.
That is what we are going through now. Since thursday we’ve been having high temperatures and a wonderful weather. Maximum temperatures have reached 18C. It feels like spring, but we are in the middle of February.
Today I’ve been hearing many people comment on how hot it was. They all pass along puffing away with their jackets off. Tourist are walking short-sleeved along the promenade here in Blanes. There is a bit of wind though, but if you find a terrace protected from the wind, you’ll soon feel hot sitting in the sun.
This is Carnival weekend and the weather couldn’t have been better for wearing a custom in the parades. After having “calçots” for lunch at Cala Canyelles we’ll head over to Lloret de Mar to see the Gran Rua and take some pictures.
It’s sad to see the good weather leave, but that’s what will eventually happen tomorrow. Light showers are expected in the interior tomorrow morning. The afternoon will be cloudy but still. Temperatures are then expected to drop to normal, to maximums of about 14C.
Monday will be partially cloudy and then on tuesday another depression will be hitting Catalonia. It will be a short episode though, and wednesday will be cloudy but with no rain and it will clear up by thursday.
Hope you are enjoying the good weather here in Costa Brava as I am and have a wonderful Carnival weekend.
Edit: ups!! Carnival is next weekend not this one!
