Fauna Sa Palomera
As soon as the sun reaches the equinox, shadows start getting longer and the light is different. Days are still hot but mornings and evenings start getting chilli. We enjoyed some incredible good beach days at the end of september.

I heard the locals at Sa Palomera exclaiming that these were the best days in summer, even better than august. That particular day, the sea was a mirror, cristal clear. There were very few on the beach, hardly a dozen people laying on the sand by the fishing boats. The water was chillier, already about 21º C, but excellent non the less. We put on our googles and flippers and went out for some snorkeling. There is a lot of wild life around the rocks. I was glad I could keep my tan a bit longer.

However we didn’t go to the beach much more after that. The first thunderstorms started visiting us. We were happy because the rain means we can go out to the mountain looking for mushrooms. In Catalonia, mushroom “hunting” is a great thing, and there is a wonderful culinary tradition. This year we decided to look into many different forest around our area looking for mushrooms. You have to wait for the rain and then the mushrooms will apear after 10 to 15 days. You don’t have to go far from here to find absolutely incredible forest, just look for Montseny and Arbucias.

 Boletus Edulis
We’ve been lucky so far and found the very appreciated Ceps.
It rained last night and it’s just starting to do so now, so we will have new “bolets” (souns like bullêts) soon. Next weekend we are going to Sant Hilary (Montseny-Arbucies), since they are having a micological fair with lot’s of specimens and also a taste of typical dishes made with the mushrooms.
