Today we got up early in the morning. As expected, the weather was wonderful and we got on our way right after breakfast at 9.30am.
Sant Francesc is a cove located really near where we live actually, in the village of Blanes. There are two ways to get there, one from the NII, main road to Lloret de Mar. If you are staying in Blanes though, it might be easier for you to go there going up to Sant Joan. If you visit the Botanical Garden Mar i Murtra, you just have to follow the same road to the end.

You’ll find a residential area of rich villas. The views there are just amazing. If you look down bellow you’ll see Cala Sant Francesc.

There is a pretty mediterranean garden there and a small chapel. There you’ll find stone-paved steps that take you down to the beach.

The beach is well equiped with safeguards, restrooms and there is a restaurant-bar there where you can get refreshments and something to eat. In other ocasions we’ve been there in the evening for supper. Their seafood is quite good. It’s also one of the beaches where the ferry stops. In the summer it gets quite packed and you need to get there early if you want to get a good place.

It’s good to lay out on the beach, but if you are about to see some incredible sceneries, you can take a short walk just around the rocks. The walk might take you about 15 minutes more o less . There is a walking road that goes all the way around the rocks. It starts with a hole made in the granite rocks by erosion, then it continues along taking you another time through an artificial tunnel. You’ll reach a point where you’ll see some wagon tracks coming out of a tunnel, right on the edge of the water. That used to be a mine, from the late 19th century, when extracting mineral was still worthwhile.

Once again we were astonished by the way pine trees grow on the rocks. One of them was twisted just above the road and it seemed that it had been painted orange once as to call attention to people so they didn’t bump their heads there.
Another tree had it’s roots completely covering a sharp ledge on the rock, surely that surface wasn’t the best suited for a tree, however it had managed to stay there during the years.
